CITY PLANNING

I have no conflict of interest regarding the Oak Ridges Moraine and will always uphold the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act. I will oppose development that threatens our conservation lands and work to protect this natural legacy for future generations.

Richmond Hill needs more affordable housing. I will support practical solutions, including rent-to-own opportunities, more purpose-built rental housing, and measures to discourage vacant residential properties.

I oppose the Province's use of Minister's Zoning Orders that override local planning. Growth must be supported by the infrastructure, transit, schools, parks, and community services needed to maintain residents' quality of life.

Solar energy is part of our future. I will support installing solar panels on City buildings wherever it is economically practical, beginning with Richmond Green, helping reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions

I will support purchasing residential units in new condominium developments and using rental income to help fund affordable and supportive housing throughout Richmond Hill.

I believe it's time to move City Hall to the originally planed location in the center of our city. Our current City Hall is located in a rented office building at the border of the city. Richmond Hill deserves a permanent City Hall in the heart of our community. I will support building a centrally located City Hall that improves public access, supports downtown revitalization, and reduces long-term leasing costs.

I will support property tax-backed loans to help homeowners and businesses improve energy efficiency, install solar panels, and reduce long-term energy costs.

Richmond Hill should be more than a bedroom community. I'll work to attract new businesses, create local jobs, strengthen our commercial tax base, and help keep residential property taxes affordable.
